17 January 2009 Straight leg snatch: (20kg x5:x2, 40kg x3 + 3 O/H squat:x2) Squat (belt only): (70kg x5, 100x5, 145x3, 160x2, 170,175, 180, 185kg, 145x5, 105x5, 75x12) Bench: (75kg x8, 110 kg x2: x6) Thanks Bruce: you're correct thats 11 triples@160kg. I included my warm-up today just some very light straight legged snatches to get the blood flowing. Added 15kg to my raw olympic squat, did not feel like going to failure today (or putting on the gear). I'll base my calculations for the next cycle on today's performance.

Hey Al, the training is looking good. Very consistant. I'm currently in Borden on my PLQ. Good times . Training is a bit spiratic but I'm training with Cliff Samms and he's teaching me lots. Keep on keepin' on.

Thanks for the encouragement there Rob. I'm sure Cliff has some great advice to offer along the way, wouldn't worry too much about sporadic training, it'll give you some time to heal-up and recover completely. I have fond memories of those courses; they rate up there with some of my finer moments in the dentist's chair, felt great to have them over and done with. All kidding aside, I enjoyed the challenge & still managed to have quite a bit of fun along the way; no doubt in my mind that you're doing the same. Cheers, Al

Thanks Bruce, I hate to admit it, but I've been a little busy lately (with studies & family) and I've been falling behind on my training. Just squeezing in whatever lifting I can to maintain some strength; not really much in the way of support work for the bench. Your lifting is ramping up well, keep er' goin' Cheers, Al. 27 January 2009 Snatch: (50kgx3:x3, 60kgx2:x2, 65kgx2, 70kg) 28 January 2009 Snatch: (40kgx3:x2, 50kgx3:x2, 60kgx2, 65kg, 70kg) Bench: (70kgx8, 100kgx6:x2, 102.5kgx6, 105kgx6, 107.5kgx5, 107.5kg, 110kgx4, 110kgx2)

All is OK there Bruce, I have the voyageur meet coming up this weekend, just using enough weight to maintain some strength and confidence in the bench for afterwards. Cheers' Al

Good Evening Brock, Came away with 90 & 110 (didn't quite lockout at 115) for a 200kg total, good for a silver this time around. Totaled about the same as Steiner's opening snatch. I lifted against Jose Samayoa from Saskatoon, at 45 years old he totalled 240 (he was untouchable in his younger days; still amazingly strong, his sons Istvan and David totalled 225 & 193 at this meet). Lots of fun as always, folks were asking when you were competing again there Brock (guess you made a "strong" impression first time around). The highlight of the meet was seeing Terry Hadlow go six for six topping out at 110 & 139 (not bad for 52 years old: I can't use age as an excuse anymore). Darryl Conrad was pretty impressive in the 85's lifting six for six also: topping out at 124 & 153. Brian Derwin brought his lifters up from Minnesota: in the 105's Chip Kent totalled 279. Mike Churchill snatched 140 With a C&J of 150 for a 290 total in the 105+ category. A good show all-around
