I am interested in your current 1 rep max RAW BP. Paused. or Touch and go just indicate which it is. Also give me your current age and body weight. While shirted max is what most of you are shootin for I want to use this information to help me understand what diffrent lifters at diffrent ages weights etc are capable of. Of course this will help motivate me and set some goals for my own bench. So Whaddya bench?

Thanks for the info Dereck. AS for the article handoffs are difficult as I train alone and I would say the bar speed work is lacking. I do hammer the back and fire it up pretty good ,could rotate my excersizes more,am working on the leg drive, seldom miss lifts and do pull the bar apart when going heavy. I can not see how to "pull the bar down"with out a shirt. I do give the back a big squeeze when I am at the bottom as part of starting out of the hole is this it??? Any way thanks for the article. What did you get Brock 330 or 340 last year with out gear??? BW 280 290??

Yes Bruce it was 155kg or 341# at about 280 - 290. I think the pulling the bar to the chest is in order to help keep tight for a shirted bench however, It can work well for unshirted since it will keep you tight at the bottom which will allow for a good drive out of the hole.

Hi guys... It's been a while since I've posted. I'm continuing to recover from my achilles repair back in October. I've been able to resume light lifting, the weights are pitiful at the moment.....it's hard to deadlift and squat with one super skinny leg... needless to say that right now all I can do is talk a good game....Hopefully I'll be able to continue my very slow climb back into shape again over the next few months. My best raw bench (in the gym) with a pause was 425 at a bodyweight of 200 lbs- a few years back. I don't really have any significant shirted experience as Harv and Trevor can atest to. I had just invested in a katana a couple weeks prior to my achilles tear and had hoped to use it at last year's wing 17 meet. It's been sitting in the closet since.

I haven't tested my raw max for quite awhile but about 6 months ago I did 385 touch and go. At the time I was about 225 and 35 years old. My shoulders are giving me some grief right now so it will be awhile before I test it out again.

I think I benched that getting ready for my very first powerlifting meet at wing 17 3 years ago, I guess that would have made me 37 at the time.

So age 52 BW 260, I benched 275 RAW with a pause. It was called and spotted by McLifter.Ugly slow and uneven to say the least. I will be testing again before June. Hope to see more weight going up.

I just saw this thread...
I used to touch and go with (REALLLLY SLOPPY) 550... and once attempted 600. Almost got it.
When I started cleaning up my bench it went down. I am sure I can still break 500 touch and go and at the HHG meet (my first one) I did 458.5 raw and under IPF rules.

Raw, I consistantly press 295 to 305lbs. My best in competition is 330lbs at the first 17 Wing meet. In gear I've managed 415lbs a few times in various shirts (Titan F6, Fury, and an Inzer RageX). In competition my best bench is 190kg at the 2008 Manitoba Open soon to fall at the 2009 Nova Scotia Provincials ;D.

THX Espey and Snowdaddy. WhaT was yer weight and age at the time you did the 458.5 paused(ESPEY). 330 paused Snowdaddy. Snow looks like you get around a hundred pounds outta the gear. Good luck at the open in Nova Scotia. My wife and I will be in Cape Breton this fall she is from there and has loads of family "down North" Espey you are showing approximately 40 pound difference between touch and go and paused. Your age and weight factor in this for me as part of an overall comparision. Again thanks for sharing guys.
