I signed up for a membership and competed in one meet drug free. I want to resign from the CPU as a false positive drug test may eliminate my chances for employment for the police. My understanding is that I'm free from drug test 18 months from the date I signed up. Please provide the article if this is so. If they call me in for a random test, how do they find me. Dyakuyu.

www.powerlifting.ca/drug_control.htmlThe 18 months starts the day your membership expires. Athletes throughout the CPU and IPF have been competing for years, I've never heard of a false positive within the IPF (you can get the second sample tested if you have a positive test). I wouldn't worry at all about a false positive.

Unless you're actually worried about a real positive I hear you just need to ignore the testers and they go away after a while

Thanks for posting the link Ryan.
Ivan, as was pointed out above you would have the choice of having the B sample tested if there was a "false positive". The best way to avoid this situation is to inform and educate yourself. The link above explains the CPU Drug Testing Program and provides links for athletes to follow up on questions they may have. The experts are better informed than asking someone here on a forum about what may happen if...
Below is the article from the CPU Constitution.
11.16 All CPU members are subject to Out of Competition testing as a condition of membership and will remain eligible for testing up to 18 months beyond the expiration of their latest CPU membership
Boris, not the case at all. In fact the Out of Meet Testing Program is in effect for any of us who are members. I have always maintained that if you eat good food and train hard you will progress. Lifters get into trouble when they are trying every new product that comes into the stores with a fantastic claim. Remember, some of these companies make products that are legal for tested federations and also make products that have ingredients on the banned substance list. I have worked in a feed plant and these machines are huge and run a lot of product through them. Some trace may be present in these products from these manufacturers. Again, your best defence is to be informed and don't fill yourself up with the latest "miracle product" to add to your gains.
