Has anyone else noticed the number of guys training reverse bands? I sift through Youtube and Ironscene and see countless benchers wearing super Katanas benching huge weights with tight rubber bands stretched from the top of the rack to the bar. Other than training the last two inches of the press I don't see the point. Deadlifting is just as bad. Sorry I'm pregnant doging on this forum. I know I don't live in Manitoba anymore but this seems to be the best forum in Canadian Powerlifting. ;D

Ed brought some in for a workout last month.Liked the second thickest set made[green ] which work great if you are working around a bad shoulder which gives you grief at the bottom. The grove is much better than chains and because they fade on you 3/4 of the way up they require a lot of speed off the bottom to finish the top.It is how they fade that I think is what they are best for.Only used them once but think they are worth while.Didn't like the smaller ones however. Ed might add to this as he has been using them for a while. Anyone know what they cost or where to buy them? Harv

www.flexcart.com/members/elitefts/default.asp?cid=138www.jumpstretch.com/ Who is the manufacturer by the way. www.performance-training.ca/ Canadian distributor. I have used the Reverse Bands for Bench and maybe one pulling session. What I think is going on here is people are working the upper end of the movement. With Reverse bands the weights are huge due to the deload at the bar and therefore it makes for a good video because the bar is loaded up so heavy. It is still a tool. Use this if your lockout is suffering as it gives you a lot of pull out of the hard part of the lift and allows you to overload the top portion of the movement where your mechanics are usually better. It certainly will help with the shirts as the lockout is the tough part once you get it off your chest. Also, max deadlifts at the end of a contest are a tough thing to complete. Extra work at the top end may help you get that PB total or medal. McLifter

I have done reverse band benchs a few times now and what I have found is that when I overload the bar with more weight than my shirted max for a few workouts everything feels light in my hands. For myself when I take the bar and it doesn't feel impossibly heavy my mental state is a lot better to get the lift. Harv no comments on my mental state. The heaviest I have gone is 565 to a 3 board for 3 with green bands with a shirt.

I put one band on each side of the bar like we had it set up from the top at the gym on Osbourne.
