The following was posted on the Titan Forum by Larry Maille. It concerns the passing of a true friend of Powerlifting. For those of you sho do not know, this is the father of Pete Alaniz (Titan) and was at just about every World's I was at with Pete. He was a great guy and always had time to help anybody who needed help with Titan gear. I believe he was 70 at the time of his passing, and he will be sadly missed.

"It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Mr. Pete Alaniz (Senior) at 5:30 yesterday afternoon. He had been ill for some time, but of course we all had hopes that he would pull through. Mr. Alaniz was a personal friend, an ardent supporter of USA Powerlifting and of many of our individual lifters and teams. We will miss him.
Here is the message Pete sent out after the passing: "On Sunday June 22, 2008 Mr. P.F. Alaniz passed away at his home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a patriot, devoted family man, respected local businessman, a co-founder of Titan Support Systems, Inc. and a genuine supporter of the sport of powerlifting.
His influence helped shape the direction of international powerlifting as we know it today. His ready smile, his encouragement and his quick cheer for all lifters will be missed. His spirit lives on."
We will have further information on arrangements and where you can send your regards to the family."
It is a sad day,
