This weekend I'm going to make areal effort to find the letters I exchanged with Bill West.It was about 1970 or so and I followed his method and corresponded for about 2 years while I trained at the old YMCA.It was probably the strongest I ever was.A few years back I sent some money to buy a headstone for Bill's grave as he basically died on a beach in a very sad state.I like to think I am the last of the original "West Side " group.I know George Frenn died about 7 years ago.I know Bruce has read the letters I just can't remember where I put them for safe keeping.
It was great just getting together at the HHG by the way.

It's always good to see you and Bert as well. Thanks again for the help and the coffee etc. Did you read the other post I put up "Sad News"? I tried to reach you and Bert last night but it turned out I did not have your mobile #s. I don't think Bert was aware of the news when he was over last night.

Thanks for the note and the link.Both Bert and I were aware of the situation,just was not something that came up in the conversation so we did not bring up the topic.Never met the man but he was very well know,some good and some bad.I'm thinking for the contest,if both Trevor and Ryan are at the top of their game,we may have the first 600 bench in Manitoba.Do you know anyone at the two papers who could give it a mention on the Wednesday or Thursday before the contest.Might get a few new people out.A few contests back we had someone out and they put a good picture of Steve in the paper afterwords.Just a thought,but it is a unique opportunity and have lots of lead time to make the arrangements.
