Got back from Mississauga.Weighted 99.1[24 hour weigh in]Benched 155 missed 162.5[benched it but beat the press command]benched 162.5 took 4th at 170 and couldn't quite look out my bad shoulder. The 162.5 is a awpo world masters record plus I was also drug tested.Just wanted to do something before my birthday. Also got to see Clint Harwood's 804 bench press,an awpo world record and Mat Court's 1060 squat which was a awpo junior world record. Both were drug tested and also lift in the CPU. Mellonhead ,we lift Wednesday at 7.00.Had some on the Metal Militia guys at the contest and actually learned a trick or two. Well past my bed time but thought I would write something. Harv

Congrats Harv, did you use your 2 ply shirt? I watched a video of Clint's 804 and he paused it quite long on his chest it was a very impressive lift.

[glow=red,2,300]HAPPY BIRTHDAY mR hANEC[/glow] Nice to see you gave yourself a Birthday present. Congratulations Harv! Now you only have 9.1kg (pre cake I assume) to go to make 90kg for June. I hope all is well and the shoulder feels OK. Take a week off and then start back training you've earned it. Brock

Hi Ed,No didn't use the 2 ply but from talking to the guys at the contest, there is a strong opinion that 2 ply shirts are just too much shirt to work with.In this federation there are no restrictions as to ply thickness but denim is by far the first choice,I saw one fellow,a world record holder put on a 2ply katana with grid stitching and almost get his head cut off when the weight just swung directly to his face. This was a very experienced lifter by the way. Also they said the sizing is off the wall in that it is more complicated than simply going 1 size higher.Just about every big bencher was using Karen Klein or a Ginny shirt.Matt Court was using a used shirt he picked up for $100 which is a new manufacturer out of Detroit by the name of Bad Dog or Bo dog[the exact name I'm not sure of].He benched 760 in it I think.Obviously my 2 ply is way to small to use. In their rules as long as you don't touch the belt you can touch anywhere on the body when you bench press.Got to see the Metal Militia style and it a low touch, but without that much tucking of the elbows until you are at the bottom. The press looks more like a 45 degree angle push to the top of the head.Never really saw anyone put on an open back denim shirt before but they take less than a minute to get on and are easy to adjust between attempts to get more support from the shirt.Funny thing is that most of the fellows lifting also lift in the CPU and took drug tests. Watching guys put on briefs and then denim or canvas squat suits is a whole different experience. They are very difficult to get on and really take more than one person helping. Overall a good time and I learned I was making some mistakes on setting up my Katana between attempts. If May gives you some evenings to bench let me know. Are you lifting 3 lift in June? Harvey

Brockmeister,They have a 24 hour weigh in so my actual weight was a TINY BIT over the 99.1 that I weighed in for the contest.I really like this rule! Harvey

Sounds like it was a lot of fun. I will be in the city in May but not sure of the exact date I'll let you know when I find out. I'm just going to do bench only for this one and maybe 3 lift next time, still trying to get my squat up to my bench.

Ed We are on for this Thursday at 7 if you are around.Anybody else bored, needs some amusement, come on down.We don't weigh in before the workout as it prevents us from loading up at Perkins on our volume discount if we know how much we weigh. P.S. Mellonhead is learning to eat pancakes with chopsticks.

HARVEY, IT'S AWPC NOT AWPO. WPO IS THE PRO ORGANIZATION. AWPC IS AN AMATEUR DIVISION.
