Yes I noticed. But more important do you think it is better.I usually train at very high % of maximum,so after warm ups with the bar I try to keep total reps under 24.That is counting anything with 135 on up.As a result never do more than 5 reps with 135.looks odd but those are the rules. Harvey

No problems so far. Really feel the tire flip on inner thighs cause of my stance in close knees spread keeps the back straight.

I dropped 275 way to slow as I was tentative about the weight. Clse Grp palms in PU BWx3 BWx8x3 Lat raise, frt raise, OHP 20x8 Stopped here as front delts were hurtin. Energy was off/low I don`t usually train at night I usually hit the gym 1st thing.in the morning. wah wah. At least I made the lift it was my goal for this cycle. May do one more this weekend if the delts recuperate or just go to the week off and hit something new. Any way I need to get out and fish the Red Winnipeg or lakes of Nopoming I do not care.Had my recently aquired boat out on the Red Tuesday nite,no fish but a nice little boat ride.

Never tried the strongman style of training before. Almost looks like an endurance event, how long do you usually train in a single workout?
(Name drop time: Grant McReynolds trained at our gym in Edmonton for a while, had lots of potential as an Olympic lifter in the supers, the rest is history)

Unfortunately, Grant left us this year. He was one strong dude that is for sure.
Hey Bruce! Are you a Captain yet?

About an hour Al, I never thought of it as strongman training but I hope it does make me strong man. I have to say my overall level of fitness and strength has improved with this outdoor training. The dog loves as in between sets we play tug of war fetch and he beats me at chess. I have opted for the week off, hence no WO`s since last wednesday. I hope to hit it tommorrow or weds latest. I need some weights for DB`s and need to make a rack to hold one DB overhead I can 2 hand the other when and if I go heavy. Less than a month to the meet, shoulder much better don`t have the confidence to test it yet?

Well you squeeze a lot into an hour there Bruce; real variety of exercises. Don't believe I quite have your dog training skills; the puppy just doesn't have the attention span for chess yet (hopefully he will mellow a little with age, and quit chewing on the pieces) ;D. Cheers.

Oct 23 Tire drag 4 rocks 50 fwd 50 bck x 4 BW one legged calf raise x 20 Rock Squat 2nd rock x10 Rock SLDL 2nd rock x 10 Tire Drag 5 rocks 100 fwd 100 bck x 2 BW one legged calf raisex20 I was pooched after this, road was wet and this was my first return to 5 rocks in this wave of ROCK DRILLS.
Oct 26 DB press 50x17 50x10 Clse grp press 135 x10 185x5 lite and fast held off to allow delts to continue to heal. DB row 50x17 50x10 75x8 95x8 Lateral plate raise 25x6x8x8 cble psh dwn 90x12x10x10 Scott Curls 103x12x10x12 Lite and fast whole WO. The whole idea of training with DB`s hinges on my getting more plates and possibily different bars. May go with a clse grp full depth WO for next 4 weeks and try some lite DB WU and or drop sets. Tris are up and the clse grip can only make that better, shoulders are showing up as the weak link,Train em seperate?? First?? I know heavier!! Whaddya think you old farts gimme some advice I gotta get this D**N bench movin. Brock I ate pickeral till it was coming out my ears,I still think we shoulda filled the live well with those fat cold water pike on Saturday.

Train the weak link first. Then work on to the other body parts.
Thoroughly warm up the shoulders then get into your work out whatever it is. Hit them for some high rep blood flushing stuff for 2 - 3 weeks and then up the weight slowly and drop the reps. Do some close grip bench and then rotator cuff work and stretching.
We could always go back when the ice forms up and take some of the BIG SISTERS of those pike we caught!!! First ice pike would be a change for us.

First ice pike it is then, and we will eat em. Oct 28th Tire Drag 5 rocks 100 fwdx3 100bwdx2 BW one leg calf raise x 20 2nd rock squats x 10 2nd rock SLDL x 10
Tire drag 5 rocks 100 fwd x 2 100 bwdx3 BW one leg calf raise x 20 2nd rock squat x 10 2nd rock SLDL x 10 BW one leg calf raise x 20
Lookit dat brudda. I got an extra 100 steps in with 5 rocks on each drag as well as doin all my squats and SLDL with the bigger rock topped off with an extra set of calf raises. This would be a peak for this wave with this training. I warmed up with a one mile hike prior and took a break between all sets so I was able to use more weight and do more. Still left me tired but pretty pleased with the work. I must be easily entertained, after WO spent the evening outside with dog just soakin in the night.

Must be rewarding training outdoors, spending time with the dog and looking forward to the next fishing trip. I may have to try your approach to life one day. Nothing wrong with soaking in the night, nothing really interesting on television anyway. Cheers, Al

would be happy to take you fishin,Big Bad Broccoli and I have shared many trips together over what must be the last 23 or 24 years. He is usually the guy to follow if you want fish but my singing is better. Oct 30th. SLDL/ High Pull Barx10 65x6 75x5 85x4 95x3x3 Lateral Raise 25x6 20x12x2 Close Grip BP 135x10 185x5 205x3x3 BW wide grip PU BWx5 BWx12x3
Plan was to start out with some OHP then go to High pulls then lat raise. OHP would not go delts to sore. Did lots of tater cuff stuff before during and after. Given I have not done anything heavy in the SLDL and High Pulls are new I took it easy. Back is sore today but so far it seems to be just muscular. This close grip work did not hurt shoulder and is the first full ROM pressing since last shoulder injury so if I can get in 4 weeks of this may be able to do a full press legal width.
