Hey Guys. Just wondering if any of you have used L-Glutamine before I accidently bought it mistaking it for a creatine and have been using it for about 3 days. From what I understand it is basically an amino acid that help you recover from work outs. Have any of you had any experience with it.

Been using it for a couple years and feel it works very well to prevent soreness in the heavy end of the training cycle. It also seems to mix well in protein shakes.Been using Kaizen as it is made in Manitoba so seems to be a better price.Paid $37.99 for 1 kilo at Meyer's.Will you be lifting in November?Harvey

Sounds useful thats good. As for lifting I miss it but I don't think my coach would want me to do it for safety reasons maybe I can come out and help with something.

I agree with Harv, I have been using L-glutamine since September and it seems to speed up recovery. I found that it works well in the shakes, but lately I have been putting a scoop or two in my gatorade while training; I dont seem to be as sore the next day (may just be a coincidence).

I don't think so Al. We all have noticed this when using Glutamine.

How much L-Glutamine do you need to use for it to be effective?
I have been taking the GNC brand which comes in a pill form but feel no positive effects from it. Taking two pills after a workout, maybe I'm not taking enough?

I've always used the powdered form. Usually no more than a teasthingy in some Gatorade was all I was using at the time. I've found that you rarely need to use the amounts the suggest as it winds up being pissed away.

Shaun I've used it starting about 5 weeks out from a competition or for the heavy tail end of the training cycle.About a 5ml seemed enough.Used the cheap Kaizen brand from Meyers.Think it definitely helps.Talking to a fellow that is in the industry, his comment is that it is actually in a lot of the whey protein supplements just from the way it is manufactured. They say there is a lot of glutamine in chicken wings and also in most hot sauces. Harv

I was wondering if the amount of L-Glutamine relates specifically to your size?
