I would like to wish the best of luck to the few, the chosen, the financially stable individuals that will be at the CPU Nationals this week.
So, good luck to Steve, Annette, Harv, Trevor and anyone else who decides to show up. We will be watching for the results.

Got back late so here are some quick comments. When the Powells lift they do it as a family and taking Steve Jr. and little Berlin does make it a little difficult but a lot of fun. They both lifted in tough competition and Steve for sure had some dialing in of gear issues.Think his bench was the best he had ever done.Coming third when the top 3 all do over 500 Wilkes is tough competition.Annette also passed her national ref's exam so again she was doing more than just lifting.Mellonhead, what can you say.had the third highest starting weight of the competition, opening at 260kilos[572 lbs] and missed his next at 567.5 kilos[588.5].It seemed to me that he got a long hold before he got the start command and a long pause before he got the press command. The 3rd attempt was a good effort but the miss on the second just took too much out of him. Me,as usual missed my opener for uneven extension so had to redo it on the second.wasn't difficult so went for the Canadian Master 3 record 171 kilos[376 lbs].got it 3/4 the way up,just couldn't lock out. Next years Nationals are in Moose Jaw so would hope to have e few more lifters out. I think Trevor's opener at 260 kilos got a few peoples attention because they really don't know him. What was a bigger surprise was 555 lbs last warm up in the warm up room.We may have been a small group from Manitoba but because we all train together it felt more like a team. Was the biggest group of lifters ever at a National meet and when you have 10 juniors alone in 90 kilos you know the future of the sport looks very good.As Bill Jamison said at the windup,he has been to World Championships that were not as well run as this meet. think the most amazing thing was Greg Doucette wiping out on the squats due to an obvious bad back and then coming back to bench the next day and opening at 250 kilos at 90 kilos bodyweight, missing on technical rules, going to 252.5 on the second attempt and making it. They had 203 lifters in the 3 lift event and 84 in bench only. Harv

Thanks for the little meet summary Harv. I'm glad to hear that we now have another National Referee in the Province. That is excellent news!
MooseJaw next year could be a goal to shoot for since it is close and our Saskabush powerlifting friends always put on a great contest.
