Hey guys I'm sorry if this question has been answered before but I've been looking everywhere and can't seem to find it. I competed last year in the Power in the Parkland meet and totalled 1001 as a sub jr. Does this qualify me for any provincial or national meets? Also how does one qualify for the Western Canadian championships? I'm going to be at the 17 wing this September as a junior. Will this meet suffice the requirements to go to one of the meets I listed above if the required total is achieved?

Edit* Am I still eligible for those meets even though I'm no longer in the same age class but my last year total met the requirements as a junior in the 83kg class?

OK on point 2 it says you have to satisfy any additional requirements for your province to be eligible. For other requirements would I need if I already got the standard for nationals last year?

Darius
I will get Brock to respond on this also, but mostly this involves being "a member in good standing". ie up to date CPU card, participating in a contest over the past year...sometimes this may be in the form of volunteer because injuries can sometimes be a factor.
I will Brock to respond.

Wolverine When you say "Participating in a contest over the past year", but the text on the link above says "You must have qualified within the previous 24 months from the date of the intended Nationals." - I would assume your total to qualify for Regionals (Westerns) would be the same 24 month time frame ? (Basically: I competed November 2014, met the regional qualifying standard - Would I be able to compete in the December 2015 Westerns, 13 months later) Hopefully my question makes sense via text !

Your total that qualified you is good for 24 months.....that is the CPU portion of the qualification standard.
Then there is the provincial require men's (that can and vary from province to province). Unless there have been amendments that I am unaware of, in Manitoba, you have to maintain an active, current, up-to-date, CPU card and participate in a minimum of 1 contest per year. That participation may be in the form of a lifter or a volunteer. The reason for us including the volunteer (spotter, loader, head table, etc.) is, as I mentioned previously, because injuries may preclude a lifter from participating in that capacity.
I did speak with Brock earlier today and he said that he would contribute to this thread in he next while.

Bruce is correct. We have not instituted any further qualifying standards provincially other than participation and achieving the qualifying total for your age group and weight class. The qualifying standards on the CPU website are in effect.
You would need to lift in the current age category and weight class that you are for this year. I.e. - you could not lift as a Sub-Junior if you are presently a Junior, although you are still considered an "Open" competitor but those qualifying totals are higher.

Hi! I am just beginning power lifting in Manitoba. I bought my membership for the Manitoba Power Lifting Association. I currently go to Cross Fit and really enjoy lifting. I have never competed in power lifting. I am 62 years old. I would like to know how many competitions you must complete to move on to provincials. How do you qualify for provincials and nationals? I would also like to know the totals required to qualify for provincials and nationals? I am in the 84 weight class. If I compete in a competition in April in Winnipeg does this qualify me for provincials if I lift the weights required? When are the provincials in Manitoba? I believe there is a competition in October at Iron Image in Selkirk. If I do that one, am I too late to qualify for provincials? I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.
