No, not from injury just laziness. I still update my blog almost daily. Have almost finished two cycles of the 5 3 1 and testing maxes in about 2 weeks.

Video is coming, editing right now. Having trouble uploading for some reason, I'm not really skilled in this area. Did a mock meet today in Ryan Espey's gym where I train and it went really well I think. I stuck to the rules and kept to my attempts and such, but also did additional lifts if I still had the gas so I could set new gym PR's and establish new training maxes for the 5/3/1 program. So far, for 6 weeks into the program, I'm very happy with the results. I will add the link when complete.

I just watched the video. It looks like there were some good attempts there. Your squatting looked good, a little rocking on your feet as the weight went up. The lifts looked easy though so the weight on the bar was not an issue. Practice control during the set up and the descent. I think I saw you lifting your head slightly during the bench. Keep yer mellon nailed to the bench throughout the lift. The "Wolverine" was going to send you a PM about what he observed and he had some pointers on the deadlift. I saw that your pulls were smooth, perhaps you could concentrate on driving your feet through the floor to start the lift, don't "jerk" the weight to get it moving. The bonus attempt at 500 was a hitch but you did pull the weight. I think it could be there at a contest with a smoother pulll. Good Work! Maybe you could convince the "Bikini Model" aka Mr. Espey to throw his hat in the Powerlifting ring agan! Brock

I Think Ryan is leaning towards getting back at the bench press seriously soon, I think his focus is on armwrestling at the moment, He just came off another provincial title with both arms.
Thanks for your reply and feedback.
So, you think the depth is okay on the squats? It seems like the heavier I went the easier it was to make sure I went deep enough. I didn't even realize I was rocking on my feet, I will work on that as well as control.
I knew I lifted my head as soon as I started the bench attempt, I don't know why I did that, I don't normally. I will make sure to not make that a habit.
Thanks for the feedback it is appreciated, and if anyone else sees anything I am open to any advice. I am going to keep on working on putting up bigger numbers of course, but also want to make sure I am using correct form and not getting into any bad habits.
Back to the program on Monday with new training maxes, I will continue to post logs on my blog. The link is at the start of this thread.\

I just posted up the entry form and poster for the 2014 Power in the Parkland which will be in Dauphin MB on June 14/14 Another thing to consider with the bench is to work the pause into your training. That way you will not be too surprised by it during the contest. When the bar touches your chest, hold it motionless (silent count of 1001) and press it up. Depth is always easier with heavier weight! The trouble occurs when you can't come back up! A solid base with your feet and a tight core help with all of the lifts but very much so with the squat. I have been pausing with the bench, and was using commands in the video. Do you think they weren't long enough?
Thanks again and I am looking forward to the Dauphin contest.

From a Referee's point of view the pauses in the video were just a tad quick. That is why I encourage lifters to practice it during their training. A silent count in your head of 1001 or "three blind mice" (reference to the referees) will usually be sufficient. The other key is the part of the rule; "motionless on the chest". So, the bar could be paused but if there is movement i.e. torqueing or bouncing you will not receive the "Press" signal. These are just fine points as your lifting does look strong. Brock
