I have used chalk in the Kenaston, Regent and McPhillips GLs. Liquid chalk is a good alternative to use when places take exception with the good stuff. I know a few guys that have used rosin (used for violin bows) to pull some really heavy weights, it's even less "messy" than liquid chalk. Yeah I go to Regent. I used chalk for probably 6 months, some trainers saying I can, some saying I can't, some having no idea. Eventually the manager came and told me I couldn't use it anymore, but that I could use liquid grip instead.

It's ridiculous that a basic tool for serious lifters is banned because it is a challenge to clean up and some of our iron brothers or sisters were not careful with the mess they left.

Hi, I am from Brandon and i use fitness quest, it is a great place to work your powerlifting. I go there and it has all you need to train for this sport. Thing is dropping plates is not really gym ettiquette any where you go. I have been training for 10 years and not anyone does anybody condone this. Its annoying to hear that especially if your doing high volume.
I wouldn't mind training with another powerlifter if you choose fitness quest. I have never done a meet just started thinking about it this year since all my lifts have gotten into a good range.

Trying to lift max weights putting the weights down lightly really takes a lot if strength away. There's a reason why you don't see top IPF guys do it. Look at someone like Josh Hancotts videos . That's pretty much how I deadlift. I will probably be training at embark fitness and bringing my own plates. Would be cool to workout with another powerlifter though.

I watched some of his videos yes he does drop weights on his max lifts not on anything for training purposes. The negative is a key part to building muscle as well, Having control ofthe weight shows a lot of power. Dropping the weights can sometimes be as dangerous as controlling the decent. But I understand the purpose of dropping the weights, in a competition where all you have to do is get it off the ground dropping will save energy.

Actually in competition you have to "control the weight" back down to the floor. If you get to the top, get called down and then drop the weight from a standing position you'll probably get a no lift. Control doesnt mean it takes 3 seconds to set the bar down, but it does mean you're holding it until it touches the floor.

I guess I should word it a lot better, that's what I was thinking but the words didn't come out that way.
